Thesis Submitted for Master Program in Management with Concentration in Education System, Postgraduate, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta, 2006.
Background, result of survey of Mathematics, Physics and other Science by UNESCO in 43 states to children have age been15 year, in the reality Indonesia occupy the very low level with Brazil and Peru. Result of the survey give the indication that there is some factor which still very require to be corrected to yield quality of the science study in general and physics especially.
The purpose of this research are to know the relation which significance among Headmaster transformational leadership and Headmaster situational leadership with the performance of Science Teacher (Natural Science) of Public Junior High School in Sukoharjo Regency.
This Research represents the analytic survey research also referred by a clarification research (explanatory study). This research is done on Public Junior High School in Sukoharjo Regency, executed in August to September 2006. This Research population is all Science teacher (Natural Science) of Public Junior High School Sukoharjo Regency, consisted of by the Physics and Biological teacher’s are counted 205 people. Sample Research are counted 100 responder, used the simple random sampling technique. Statistic test used to analyze this research data, by the multiple linear regression with SPSS Version 13..
Result of research show there are: (1) significance correlation between Headmaster transformational leadership with The science teacher performance (Natural Science) of Public Junior High School in Sukoharjo Regency (r = 0,443 and p = 0,000); (2) significance correlation between Headmaster situational leadership with The science teacher performance (Natural Science) of Public Junior High School in Sukoharjo Regency (r = 0,260 and p = 0,004); (3) Headmaster transformation leadership represent the most dominant factor relate to The science teacher performance (Natural Science) of Public Junior High School in Sukoharjo Regency.
Suggestionof this research are: science teacher shall to improve the performance’s by upgrading study with developing skilled, use computer and internet, often write the journal science, research activity, making physic appliance, etc. The Headmaster’s shall to improve tranformational leadership to increase performance’s teacher.
